ENAV GROUP has embarked on a path having as its target the use of UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) for advanced maintenance activities at remote sites and airports managed by ENAV and, in particular, for NAVAIDS maintenance and airport infrastructure inspections.
As an example, ENAV UAS solution (DVI2AM®) allows to improve efficiency and flexibility of ILS ground check, thus decreasing the overall maintenance costs, with respect to traditional ground check vehicles (GCV).

This major step in ILS maintenance domain for preventive and corrective maintenance is only a beginning. Thanks to this new UAS solution, ENAV is developing the next generation of CNS systems maintenance processes. In addition to ILS ground checks, paramount support services are enabled for other systems like VOR, NDB, VHF/UHF communications.
Moreover, the UAS solution, equipped with different payloads (such as RADAR, LIDAR, electro optical, multispectral and infrared cameras, etc) can perform dedicated inspection of airport infrastructures such as FOD detection, airport fence surveillance, airport ground lighting check, runway and taxiways pavement status, etc.
