Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme with nearly 85 billion euro of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020) implementing the Exploratory Research in the ATM domain.
Horizon 2020 is focused on the third step of the SESAR ATM Master Plan open to innovative solutions – still not included in the said document. This approach makes sure new projects get off the ground quickly and achieve results faster to fulfill Single European Sky implementation by 2020, 2035 up to 2050.
Within this EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, ENAV has increasingly developed knowledge and expertise through its active participation and coordination of a number of projects in the GNSS technologies and procedures field (e.g. BEYOND, BLUEGNSS, eAirport and so forth) as well as operational-oriented initiatives such as Future Sky Safety, DARWIN, RETINA.
