With a Piaggio P180 AVANTI II equipped with the NSM UNIFIS 3000 platform, ENAV can assess the following NAVAIDs:

• Instrument Landing System - ILS CAT I, II, III
• Microwave Landing System - MLS 
• VHF Omnidirectional Range - VOR
• Tactical Air Navigation - TACAN
• Distance Measuring Equipment - DME
• Non-directional Beacon - NDB

Flight Inspection of NAVAIDs is accomplished in accordance with methodologies set out in ICAO Annex 10 and ICAO Doc 8071.

Thanks to our ability to employ three different reference systems, enabling us to choose the most appropriate in the customer’s operating environment, flight inspection activities evaluate the performance of any NAVAID.

If any adjustment is required, close coordination with ground technicians will ensure a rapid correction to minimize the impact on operations and guarantee service continuity. Contemporaneous multi-inspection of NAVAIDs is possible to minimize impact on ATC and airspace management.

Furthermore, the use of advanced technology, especially the UNICAM georeferenced system, enables the performance of ILS CAT III checks without the need to install RTK systems on the ground, thus saving time and performing ILS checks more efficiently. Our experience with working at busy international airports has produced a fine-tuned protocol that allows to complete an ILS check in less than 3 hours.

In addition to our operations on three continents, we have continuously provided FIV services in Italy, which has more than 100 NAVAIDs, for well over 30 years. Our main goal is, and has always been, to minimize the impact of our FIV operations on commercial traffic. We normally operate with a “zero delay to commercial traffic” approach.

Our UNIFIS 3000 Flight Inspection System generates real-time results, and a provisional report is released to customers immediately after the flight to ensure seamless NAVAID operation. A complete Flight Inspection Report is issued with detailed information on any specific NAVAID parameter.
